Power Dynamics:
Women in today's military face an uphill battle with regard to gender-related stereotypes and perception differences surrounding female leadership. In my last 20 years in a male-dominated profession, I've been both an Enlisted Sailor, a Commissioned Officer, and an aircraft Mission Commander. I would like to conduct research exploring the gender-based dynamics of leadership in largely patriarchal organizations.

Professional Interests:
Social psychology:
I’ve been deployed with Army Special Forces Soldiers on the ground in Afghanistan, flown over Mogadishu and Benghazi, and lived on two different 6000-person aircraft carriers across three separate deployments to Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean.
I have been interacting with men and women from all different backgrounds, socioeconomic statuses, and levels of education for two decades, and I've experienced almost every type of interaction at work, between individuals and groups, under varying levels of stress. I've always been fascinated with the social relationships between men and women, especially in the workplace. I would love the opportunity to research gender-related emotions, norms, and behaviors.

Other Interests:

I would love to participate in social psychology research opportunities that help minorities and other underrepresented groups find equality in our society. Political psychology and social media studies are also serious interests of mine.
